Vinyl sheet is a popular cost-effective product that has been used in NZ for decades. Vinyl Planks (aka Luxury Vinyl Planks, or Luxury Vinyl Tiles, or Hot Press Tiles) are a newer product on the NZ market. Still they have been around for quite a few years and have proven very effective in many residential and commercial flooring scenarios. Customers like them because:
- Vinyl tiles or vinyl planks look very smart and realistic, and come in a huge range of wood look, tile look, and contemporary patterns
- The appearance can also be customised with design features or different laying directions
- Vinyl tiles or vinyl planks are very tough: because they are modular they aren’t as flexible as vinyl sheet and so are harder. So they’ll stand up well to impact damage as well as regular wear and tear. We use them in light and heavy duty commercial areas as well as residential spaces. Also, being modular, it is possible to replace a damaged section without too much fuss.
Overall they are easy to live on: warm, quiet, easy to clean, water-resistant, long-lasting, and more affordable than cousins like ceramics, timber and laminate.
Vinyl Planks and Tiles really are a good product. They look real but they are plastic. In this case plastic doesn’t mean tacky, fake or last century. The plastic is made to be used as a floor-covering in modern day living, so LVT is easy to install, easy to clean and care for, warm, tough, quiet and affordable.
Vinyl Plank Installation
KR Flooring would always recommend the use of a competent tradesman for both sheet vinyl and planks.
Both products have specific and different requirements for installation, we would offer advice if you wish to DIY these products.
